The Corix truck was sitting outside of my yard, and my husband said, "Looks like they've come to install a smart meter."
In December, we decided that we did not want one installed on our house, and wrote to MLA Rich Coleman, as well as a few others, stating that desire. I put my letter, plus a sign on the old analogue meter, saying essentially this. I signed it, I dated it, and I put my home address on it.
Today, two lovely young ladies from Corix came down my steps towards my house. I came out of the house and talked with them briefly at the front gate.
I said to them, "I'm sorry, but I am one of those people who does not want a smart meter."
They said, "I don't think you're on our list to install anyhow." They looked at our address/their list, and sure enough, my address was not on their list.
They said that just as long as I have a sign on the old analogue meter, stating my desire not to have a smart meter, plus the address, plus my signature, that they wouldn't install a new smart meter, and the address would go on a Do Not Install list.
That was the end of that, and they moved on. I suppose it helped that I had written to MLA Rich Coleman.
