A Natural Prescription for Remedying Drug–Nutrient Depletions and Drug–Food–Herb–Nutrient Interactions
November 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am - November 3, 2019 @ 5:00 pm$15 – $300
Herbs, foods, vitamins, and other dietary supplements may augment or antagonize the actions of prescription and non-prescription drugs. This course provides a comprehensive, updated review of the common drug-nutrient-herb interactions and drug-induced-nutrient depletions.
– Common drug categories and specific drugs; they may cause depletions of certain vitamins, minerals and other important nutrients.
– The most common interactions between drugs and food, herbs and supplements and how to avoid adverse reactions.
More than 1000 prescription and over-the-counter medications (OTCs) are known to cause multiple nutritional deficiencies, or interact with food, herbs and vitamins. The side effects from these nutrient depletions and interactions can adversely affect energy, pH balance, mood, libido, the immune system and the ability to ward off degenerative diseases. Both polypharmacy and over-the-counter medications, in combination with herbal remedies, dietary/nutritional supplements and fortified foods, increase the need to consider and assess potential interactions. Often, changes in general health as well as in nutritional needs occur.
As a Holistic Pharmacist, RoseMarie draws upon her almost 50 years of experience in both natural and conventional medicine, to explore the relationship between drugs and natural substances. She weaves her technical knowledge of pharmaceuticals and natural health remedies to explore the intricacies of their interactions. Nutrition can affect the body’s response to drugs; conversely, drugs can affect the body’s nutrition with serious consequences.
This 2-day intensive workshop provides an in-depth, scientifically-based understanding of the mechanisms of how medication and the natural world affect each other, their clinical relevance, and practical steps to overcome the difficulties.
