Keep on carrying on!

The beginning of the new year is always a great time to reflect on what holds value in your life, and to cherish those things. Make a list, even! What I find myself cherishing (in addition to family and friends) are the acts of kindness that we have experienced at HANS, including the warm and supportive words from many of you to keep up the good work! To keep on carrying on. Thank you!

We've lost a few dear friends this year, including Dr. Roger Rogers (founder of the Centre for Integrated Healing) and the very first president of HANS, Michael Bryan. Memorial write-ups are on the HANS website under (More HANS History/With Us In Spirit). That is at http://www.hans.org. It seems tragic to me that they would be gone, as they have always been part of our landscape here. And then I remember that the spirit of Michael, and Roger, remains with us still as we are surrounded by pictures of them. Happy pictures!

Recently, I was very touched by the story of a dog named Ruby. It grabbed me and I didn't stop reading until the end. It is something written by the late Dr. Brian Sparkes, who was well known in orthomolecular medicine circles. This article, sent to me by Dr. Brian Schaefer (friend to Sparkes) is re-circulated now with the permission of Dianne Aldan of Greece Animal Rescue. Please take a moment to read this very meaningful story and to circulate it to anyone who loves animals, if you will, as I'm sure they would appreciate reading this >> http://www.hans.org/magazine/940/Life-with-Ruby

And see remarkable before-and-after photos of a skinny Ruby regain health with help from Dr. Brian Sparkes >> http://www.helpinghans.org/cgi-bin/show_articles.cgi.../

This may be a story about Ruby, but it's also a story about life in general and reminds us of why we do what we do at HANS. Maybe it's not Ruby per se, but for a lot of innocents such as Ruby. Keep on carrying on!
