After 20 years of daily migraines, Christine Fisher was introduced to a healing modality that changed her life, and now she's passionate about helping others learn it for themselves. It was her chiropractor who first used applied kinesiology to treat her excruciating headaches, so she became a Touch for Health instructor in specialized kinesiology, the layperson's version of this practical discipline.
"Specialized kinesiology is very popular in Australia and Europe," explains Fisher. "It is based upon the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine structure." By monitoring the response of various muscles during testing, one can determine the status of the body's energy meridians, then use techniques to help adjust them.
If you want to improve mental focus or reduce a stomach ache, specialized kinesiology can help. Pets, too, can benefit; Fisher treats her elderly dog every day to improve his energy and reduce pain. Her half-day to two-day workshops cover many techniques as well as information on how to detoxify the body.
In addition to workshops, two external aids have helped Fisher with her own health and she is happy to offer demonstrations. For 10 years, she has used the CHI Machine, a Health Canada-approved device that puts the body into a relaxation state, allowing rest and recovery. By supporting her lymphatic system, the CHI Machine has improved Fisher's edema of the legs; it also helps her sleep.
Twenty years on painkillers for the migraines caused Fisher to become glutathione-deficient. Glutathione is an important internal detoxifier and antioxidant and is naturally produced by the body; so deficient was she that she took glutathione IVs for five years. But since discovering acupressure patches that are placed topically on TCM meridian points to send a message to the body to produce more glutathione, she has not needed IVs.
"Because of my health history, I want to help people learn about options available to them so they can increase their own body's ability to heal," she says.
