When Dr. Seyed Alireza Rafiee discovered homeopathy, he never looked back. A former veterinarian in Iran, he embraced this modality for its well-roundedness.
"It was so interesting," he recalls. "I was used to giving pain medications or relieving symptoms, but that was only physical treatment. Homeopathy is a holistic medicine that covers everything--the physical, mental and emotional."
Dr. Rafiee opened his first clinic in Toronto in 2005 before moving west last year. At his newly opened Arnica Homeopathic Centre in North Vancouver, Dr. Rafiee practises classical homeopathy, in which a patient's numerous complaints, characteristics and habits are evaluated, and the appropriate remedy is assigned. He is a member of the BC Society of Homeopaths.
Dr. Rafiee also uses Bach Flower remedies, which he taught at the Tehran University from 2007 to 2009. They work well with homeopathy, he explains, and are particularly effective in cases of depression, fear, anxiety, anger and addictions. Specialized combination formulas are available through his newly launched website, www.healingflowers.ca.
Live blood analysis is a third technique utilized at the clinic. Dr. Rafiee says this method helps identify nutritional problems, weakened immunity, liver toxicity and other toxins in the system such as heavy metals and candida.
Liver toxicity is a common issue, according to the doctor, because the liver is such an active organ and filters everything we consume, including medicines. General suggestions to improve liver health include avoiding sugar and processed foods, drinking lots of water, and exercising more to increase circulation.
"Good nutrition and homeopathy improve the body's vital force," he points out. "When you use them together, you see fantastic results."
