Idyllic Retreat Idea

Looking to get "out of the amp," in other words, clear from cell phones and other wireless devices? For people suffering from overexposure to electromagnetic frequencies, you need not give up the thought of a summer getaway. Natural Ways Retreat in Slocan, BC, caters to not only EMF sensitivities but also anyone wanting peace and quiet combined with tai chi, wholesome cooking and outdoors adventures.

Owner Daphne Fields is herself EMF-sensitive and knows how excruciating this sensitivity can be--the pain, headaches and other diversity of symptoms. So in the 1970s when she found Slocan, an area of environmental purity and low EMFs, there she made her home and began a B&B.

Natural Ways Retreats now offers accommodations for up to eight people, with an average price of $60 including food. Every effort has been made on the 12-acre property to keep as small a human footprint as possible, although there are town coffee shops and restaurants just minutes away.

What makes this location special, Fields says, is the purity of the environment and the expanse of the private zone in which to just "be." Between tai chi courses, wild gardens to explore and walks amongst the trees, there are lots of opportunities to relax and enjoy.
