The decision to free Lake Cowichan of fluoride is in the hands of your town council, local residents and people who are directly affected by it. Outside people can only encourage each individual to research this issue carefully for themselves. The practice of injecting fluoride into public water was developed many years ago. There is much speculation and controversy as to why that was done, however, that is now history. Today, Lake Cowichan has the opportunity to be free of fluoride, once and for all.
The public information meeting planned for November 22nd, 2010, provides an ideal opportunity to discuss the hazards of this chemical. Fluoride has a WHMIS Hazardous Material label for good reasons. It is highly toxic, difficult to administer accurately and it corrodes the pipes in the water system. In last week's article, it said that the fluoride needs daily test samples and a compounded monthly test in a certified laboratory! They are treating it very seriously, and rightly so. That is definitely not something I would want my children or elderly parents with dentures drinking, let alone people with medical conditions.
Reading last week's Cowichan Lake Gazette's article, I noticed that local dentists had spoken in favour of using fluoride and indicated how well recommended it is by the dental community at large. This may be technically true, however a Google search for "dentists against" will provide over 272,000 entries. One of these entries is from Dr. David Kennedy, DDS, a Californian dentist, who has an
extensive report with references. In this report, he summarizes: "Increasing the fluoride intake of a patient without regard to established risk factors such as age, kidney function, weight, physical condition, water consumption, total fluoride intake, and mitigating dietary calcium is medical negligence."
Here is just one quote from the past president of the American Medical Association, Dr. Charles Gordon Heyd: "I am appalled at the prospect of using water as a vehicle for drugs. Fluoride is a corrosive poison that will produce serious effects on a long range basis. Any attempt to use water this way is deplorable."
Fluoride is only debated when communities try and take it out of their water. Have you noticed that there are no communities putting fluoride into their water? When you think of it, when was the last time the CVIA pressured any other communities into installing fluoride units?
In closing, we wish you the very best in your deliberations and hope to hear that you will soon be fluoride-free. The 25-year-old Health Action Network Society believes in providing accurate, well-documented information to people who deserve the facts. If anyone in the community would like additional information send an email to hans@hans.org.
Note: Check out this excellent recent
video on fluoride. Dr Mercola interviews chemist Dr Paul Connett, PhD. The interview discusses how fortunate BC is to be almost fluoride free (about 3.5%) and that Canada has a good chance to break this toxic cycle.
