Dear Members and Friends,

A special thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to let our board of directors know how valuable you feel Health Action Network Society (HANS) is. The 400-plus responses that we have received for our call for support campaign were helpful, encouraging and optimistic.

The board met on January 21st, 2010, to review these responses (read a few below) and to discuss HANS's current financial status. This year's board is an exceptional team with new members Ted Kuntz, M.Ed and Philippe Souvestre, MD (France), RAc, RRP, joining Brian Schaefer, PhD; Dorothy Beach; Klaus Ferlow, HMH; Milt Bowling; Randy Gomm; Shiv Nat, CA; Jane Shaak and myself.

Researching a sustainable future
We are pleased that the kind donations from the past couple of months will help to sustain us into 2010. But while our immediate needs have been met, the journey into finding a plan for long-term sustainability is not over. There was a sense of renewal and enthusiasm in the boardroom as the directors began the first enthusiastic step in considering opportunities to move forward.

There were many suggestions and ideas that were sent in during November and December and we have carefully organized them into the different topics. This information will assist the board of directors with their work of strategizing plans for the future of HANS. These suggestions included everything from researching enterprising non-profit models to expanding our web presence-both very viable possibilities.

In December 2009, a team of volunteers artfully moved our reference library into the main offices of HANS to help reduce our overhead expenses. A storage unit was also cleaned out, again reducing expenses. Archiving, streamlining and reorganizing three decades of records are also underway. HANS has the technology to store digital files, so that is working well with the archiving that is needed!

We cannot thank you enough
Thank YOU again for your enthusiasm, kind words and creative solutions. It is endearing to know that this organization is valued, appreciated and depended upon. We will continue to do whatever we can to move HANS forward.

Note: If you are not a current member of HANS, please sign up to support our non-profit magazine and many other educational efforts and services. Together we can make a world of difference for wellness!
