1. Drink water one hour before a meal or one hour after, but never during meals.
2. Avoid desserts after protein-rich meals.
3. Combine foods wisely: avoid mixing starch with protein.
4. Supplement with enzymes, probiotics, fibre and unprocessed oils such as olive, flax, borage or coconut.
5. Use alternate proteins when possible, such as those from rice and hemp sources.
6. Obtain beneficial bacteria for the colon by eating fermented vegetable cultures such as raw sauerkraut.
7. Include soluble and insoluble fibres daily by following the 80/20 rule: eat 80% alkaline foods and 20% acid foods. Vegetables, fruits, soaked nuts and seeds will help to build your alkaline mineral reserves. The more raw food you eat, the more you support the live digestive enzymes.
