Is there anything worse for a new parent than a fretful newborn who is uncomfortable and unhappy?

Brenda Pulvermacher, who does a lot of work with infants and newborns at the Ocean Wellness clinic in North Vancouver, BC, says she has seen craniosacral therapy, a gentle hands-on technique, help alleviate colic, birth trauma, nursing challenges and more.

The babies are so fresh and strong and vibrant, Pulvermacher says, "It doesn't take a lot as a therapist to encourage their systems to come into
balance."

Craniosacral therapy focuses on the bones and body membranes, and also works to "release fascial [connective tissue] restrictions within the body system; improve the function of the nervous system and reduce stress; reduce pain and dysfunction; reduce headaches; and increase mobility and range of motion," according to information from the new craniosacral certificate program at Langara College in Vancouver, BC. Pulvermacher, a clinical supervisor for the program, explains that treatment is, in fact, excellent for all ages because it's also quite relaxing and "helps people slow down and get in touch with inner wisdom, which is what we all need to do."
