My husband, son and I were a happy family until after our son's last set of vaccines (at 19 months of age). He stopped using words, began flapping his hands and walking on his toes, and he became very sensitive to loud noises and crowds of people. He also stopped eating all the foods he used to enjoy.

My son was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. He had been in therapy for about six months when my husband and I attended an autism conference, where we heard about treatments, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) that gave us hope to help our son.

We lived in Vancouver for three months and did an HBOT treatment every day at Vitalia Healthcare and saw Dr. Alibhai, a naturopathic doctor. After just two weeks, my son was more focused, willing to sit for longer periods of time and concentrated better on a task or a toy.

Over time and more treatments, he had better eye contact, started to see more of his surroundings. He started signing more and held my hand while walking down the street instead of running away.

He lost the blank stare he had on his face and now he looks at me instead of through me. He answers when I call his name and he interacts with other people.

Our son is now four and although he is still non-verbal and we know that he will always be autistic, we believe that with the help of Dr. Alibhai he will lead a healthy and normal life.
