The BC organic scene recently got a financial boost from the provincial government. In April, $100,000 was awarded to the Certified Organic Associations of BC (COABC) to support organic producers in meeting the national regulations that are scheduled to be in full effect by the end of 2008. This will be a big job, according to Deb Foote, president of COABC, so the grant will help.

BC is home to more than 600 certified organic farms, with a farm production value of more than $29 million. Delta MLA Val Roccick made the monetary announcement at Expo West, hosted by the Canadian Health Food Association in Vancouver.
