Story of Healing: Cancer
Source: Health Action Magazine Spring 2008
Natural foods, vitamins, a positive attitude and great health care practitioners have afforded me the title of "cancer survivor." Last year, stage 4 colon cancer had gone through my colon into my small intestine; it was attached to my spine and had metasticized into my ovaries. My surgeon gave me two months to live and my first reaction was to not buy into the diagnosis and to get rid of the cancer in any way I could.
With the support of my physicians, my naturopathic doctor, my therapeutic touch practitioner, friends and family, I used a combination of aggressive conventional and complimentary therapies to heal. I looked for the positives every day during my surgeries, treatment, and recovery, and there were many. A positive attitude has so much to do with a positive recovery.
This past week, I just returned from my first colonoscopy, a year after my final surgery, and all is clear and clean. Even though we hear time and time again about the terrible healthcare we have, my experience was quite the opposite. I was so impressed with everyone's attitudes and professionalism.
