Story of Healing: Fibromyalgia

Source: Health Action Magazine Spring 2008

My fibromyalgia started off with bilateral knee pain, then my health slowly spiraled  downwards. Formerly, a healthy, active 36-year-old firefighter, I finally reached the stage where I couldn't hold onto the telephone or write in my journal any more.

I improved my diet; switched to organic and alkalizing foods; tried to reduce my stress levels and improve my sleep; removed as many sources of environmental toxins from my home as possible; undertook a gradual exercise program; had my "silver" amalgams removed using proper protocol; and did some major detoxifying through herbs, food supplements, and  infrared sauna use.

It has been a slow process, but I now feel about 90 percent better. I still have to be careful about chemical exposure and items that could "off-gas."

I haven't bought the common perception that fibromyalgia is a life sentence, for I truly believe that one can fully recover. Although it's a lot of work, the rewards at the end of the journey make it well worth it.
