Health Action Magazine Correction
Whoops! Our page 3 ad in Health Action Magazine, Spring 07 issue, for Nordic Living Water Systems was missing a digit off of its toll-free number. It should have read 1-888-644-7754. Sorry for the confusion.

1) ISSUE UPDATES

Health Canada’s Gambling With Our Health
Protect Natural Health Products

A relatively new government directorate focused on natural health products is about to develop regulations that will have very serious consequences on the type and availability of natural health products (NHPs).

We need to become aware of the current NHP context and the Health Products and Food Branch “Cost Recovery Initiative” process. We must also consider the consequences before any more regulations or guidelines are imposed. Who does it serve? How does NHP cost recovery hurt natural health products? How will our freedom to choose health products be affected, because they certainly will if we do nothing?

On April 23, 2007, a handful of people from the natural products industry met to clarify the intentions of the new Natural Product Directorate in “taxing” natural products through the process of “cost recovery.” There will be “side effects” which could include death to a number of small to medium-sized companies.

Mystery of Disappearing Honeybees

Honeybees are disappearing across the United States, with half of the States affected and beekeeper losing 30 to 90 percent of colonies.

The problem began more than two years ago and has intensified in recent months. The bees simply vanish relatively suddenly, with little or no dead adults in or near the colonies, leaving behind the queen and a few young. In cases where the colony appears to be actively collapsing, the workforce seems to be made up of young adult bees, insufficient to feed the brood, but who are reluctant to consume provided feed. This “colony collapse disorder” (CCD) is particularly devastating for growers of fruits and vegetables, as they depend on insect pollinators.

Kleercut - Wiping Away Ancient Forests

Kleenex, one of the most popular brands of tissue products in the world, contributes to the destruction of ancient forests. Its manufacturer, the Kimberly-Clark corporation, has been unwilling to improve its practices, continuing to rely on paper and pulp made from clearcut ancient forest including North America’s Boreal forest. Kimberly-Clark clears these ancient forests, essential in fighting climate change and providing home to wildlife like caribou, wolves, eagles and bears, into products that are flushed down the toilet or thrown away.

Help stop Kimberly-Clark and Kleenex from destroying ancient forests like the Boreal forest at http://kleercut.net/en/

Within the framework of an introduction into German New Medicine (GNM), this presentation explains: Why do some people develop allergies and others don’t? What triggers the onset of an allergy at a certain time in our life? Why does a person become allergic to a very specific substance or allergen? Why does the exposure to certain allergens such as food substances, chemicals and animal hair, cause different reactions (indigestion, rashes, runny nose, or breathing difficulties) in different people? Why are allergies on the increase?

Dr Hamer, originator of GNM, shows that allergies are always linked to certain emotionally distressful events. He identified allergens as biological “alarm signals” that were stored in our subconscious in connection with a specific original conflict situation. Learning to recognize these “triggers” and to understand the real cause of allergies is the first step towards both their treatment and their prevention.
