It was March,
1994
By Lorna Hancock
I know you aren't going to believe this, but it is absolutely true, and five people at the HANS office experienced it with me.
My 19 year old niece Sara had been volunteering at a charity bingo, and her job was to pay-out the cash prizes to the winners. On the one particular day she worked, one man won 7 out of 11 games. She commented to him that he was 'really lucky' that day, and he said 'Yes, I am — I play according to my biorhythms.'
When Sara repeated the story to me, I knew I had to try it, too. I was game to try anything to raise funds for Health Action. So, I found a biorhythm software program, and made myself up a chart. Within a week, I had three rhythms at the top, so I stood at the office counter March 22, 1994 at precisely the time this was supposed to be the highest luck, and chose six numbers for the 6/49 (after someone explained how to fill in the 6/49 forms).
I chose my address 8, 33, 5. I chose my age. I was 47, so I wrote down 47. I chose my husband's age. I wrote down 49. And then I asked myself how old I was during the year I really loved the most. I was 32, so I wrote down 32. Nope, that didn't feel right. People would think that 32 was a dumb age to love. How about 26 years of age — yes, much more romantic somehow.
So, I had my numbers. 8, 33, 5, 47, 49, 26. Guess which numbers fell down that little chute. 8, 33, 5, 47, 49 and good ol' 32. Instead of winning $5,000,000, I won $2,177.00 which we shared around the office. Guess I wasn't supposed to win the big one. But, isn't that just something?!
You can laugh all you want, but I've shared this story with at least a dozen people, and five of them have come back with similar stories. The 'luck' seems to depend mostly on the physical and emotional rhythms, because it's how you feel that seems to be the factor.
The black line on the chart which was created by Roedy Green represents the average of all three of the rhythms. Have fun, and don't have expectations about this. 'Luck' is a nebulous thing that can't be defined, and some people are just always 'lucky,' aren't they. If I've learned anything, don't assume that you're going to win. If you're going to have a little fun, just have a little fun, and don't put any more than a $1 into it.
And, if it works! Health Action Network Society is a great charity that would LOVE to hear from you!
